Extracts (Flannelweed) :
- HDN presents new pharmacological data; some of it conflicts with what I provide. For example, in HDN, vasicinone was reported as a bronchoconstrictor in vivo and as a bronchodilator in vitro. HDN gives us the activities for L-ephedrine, while not specifically naming it in the plant. Beta-phenylethylamine is the parent of many different sympathomimetic phytochemicals. Well absorbed, it easily crosses the blood-brain barrier, decreasing amine content in noradrenalin and dopamine-containing nerve terminals in the brain and in the peripheral adrenergic nerve terminals of rats (HDN). Its amphetamine-like action can be blocked by pretreatment with reserpine (HDN).
